Back when no one gave a damn about what was politically correct, people would say anything. Many who were like that understood they might have to defend the nonsense they babbled when words became the only things no longer flying.

Today, many people believe we've gotten beyond that "in your face, break your jaw style of dealing with disrespect.

People should not mistake conflict resolution techniques for weakness.

The truly pompous an stupid need to know they could need their jaws wired shut at any time.

My wife shot this photo of one of my granddaughters tonight. She was studying on an evening of what has been her second week of high school.

She is a bright child and a beautiful soul. She believes she will have a future that is full of promise and she is working toward that goal.

She is one of those children who has a huge extended family that cares for her and prays for her and encourages her to do her best each day.... Read More

I am sure she will do well.

President Obama tried to step in and offer encouragement and kind words to the nation's children on Sept. 8. In some places he was treated as if he was trying to pass out leaflets to a happy hour.

I tell this young girl all the time that she can be whatever and whomever she wants as long as she remains focused on her goals.

Today, some children were deprived of hearing a message like that from someone who KNOWS that all things are possible with effort.

Perhaps we are all a little poorer as a result.
